The German Mining Museum Bochum offers couples a very special kind of civil wedding ceremony – an underground wedding.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 13.30 – in consultation with the Bochum registry office – couples are able to have their civil wedding ceremony in the “Steigerstube” of the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum.
You and your guests will take the lift down 17 m into the visitor mine. There you’ll be guided to the Steigerstube, where your wedding will take place. After the ceremony you can take the lift up to a champagne reception on the headframe.
We’re also happy to put a personal message to the bridal couple on the LED display on the outside wall next to the main entrance of the museum.
The champagne reception can be booked via the Grubengold cafeteria.
Due to the limited number of seats in the Steigerstube, only 17 further guests (in addition to the bridal couple and the registrar) can attend the ceremony.
