Education and Events
Old or young, school pupils or miners: whatever your age or interests, our comprehensive programme offers an ideal opportunity to get to know the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum in all its facets.
Our services include an education programme, guided tours of the visitor mine, permanent and temporary exhibitions, and workshops for children and adults on mining-related topics. We also run a programme of readings, travel accounts, lectures and events offering unusual glimpses into the world of raw material extraction.
Come and experience the world of mining close-up! We offer our visitors the option of a guided tour through the visitor mine 20 m below the museum. After the tour you can take a ride up our headframe and drink in the view of the whole Ruhr area.read more
Besides tours of the visitor mine and visits to the headframe, we offer various guided tours through our permanent exhibition and the current special exhibition. You can book special tours and workshops on many different topics – e.g. metal, miners’ lamps or mining-related art – or take part in our open guided tours every Sunday.read more
We offer a separate programme for school classes. Along with guided tours of the visitor mine, school pupils can experience mining-related topics first-hand in our interactive events.
The "Bergbau-Rallye" (an activity trail in which clues or answers to questions have to be found among the museum exhibits) helps young people to independently explore the diverse content of our permanent exhibition.
In our lectures and our Sunday matinée sessions, "nachgefragt?" (question time), we approach various interesting topics from a scholarly perspective. We would like to invite both a specialized audience and interested members of the public to listen and join in the discussion.read more
