Come and experience the world of mining close-up! We offer our visitors the option of a guided tour through the visitor mine 20 m below the museum. After the tour you can take a ride up our headframe and drink in the view of the whole Ruhr area.
The guides who lead our individual tours are all highly knowledgeable about mining and will give you a lively and interesting account of the mining industry and the people who have worked in it. Guided tours of our visitor mine take place at regular intervals. Individual visitors are put together in groups. If you are visiting us with a group (10 or more), we advise you to contact us as early as possible.

It is much colder in the visitor mine than in a real mine. The average temperature is only 12 °C.
We therefore recommend bringing a jersey or a jacket so you don’t get too cold underground.
Guided tours through our visitor mine are included in the entry price for school classes. For every 20 school pupils, two accompanying adults are admitted free of charge.
School classes may request guided tours in English and French at no extra cost, depending on availability.
Would you like to prepare for your tour of the visitor mine, or check which mining machines you’ve seen once you’re back home?
Then have a look at our information pages about the visitor mine, where we’ve compiled photos and lots of extra information on the individual exhibits.
