The commitment of our volunteer miners makes a visit to the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum a special experience. As the last contemporary witnesses who can give authentic accounts of underground work, they are particularly valuable for our educational work and are highly valued by our visitors.
The group of volunteers has existed since 2014 and has since guided thousands of visitors through the visitor's mine and the permanent exhibition, as well as creating its own event formats. They are also involved in the development of future educational offerings and contribute their knowledge of mining work.
Volunteers are actively involved in the following areas:
- imparting knowledge about mining and geo-resources
- Conception of educational museum formats
- Museum projects
Would you like to become part of our team of alumni?
Since it is important to us that volunteers have a good exchange among and with each other, the group meets regularly on the last Wednesday of the month at 3:30 pm. In addition, you can expect an annual party and occasional training sessions. Travel expenses are of course reimbursed. If you have experience in mining or similar interests and would like to volunteer with us, please contact us!
