Career
Chiara Levato studied at the “Aldo Moro” University of Bari in Italy with a master thesis on iron oxide and iron hydroxide mining in prehistoric times. From October 2016 she works as PhD student for the Department of Mining Archaeology of the Deutsches Bergbau Museum of Bochum. Her doctoral project is about the Palaeolithic ochre mines of Tzines on Thasos Island (Greece) and it focuses on the microscopic analysis of use-wear traces on mining macrolithic tools.
