House of Material and Analysis

With the House of Material and Analysis, the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum maintains its own building for scientific laboratory investigations and fundamental research in materials science. It houses the two research areas Materials Science and Research Laboratory.

The Materials Science research area characterizes materials in an application-oriented manner, examines them for their material properties and clarifies damage phenomena. The Research Laboratory is concerned with the application and further development of scientific analysis methods moreover it provides data for other research areas of our museum as well as for external clients as a research infrastructure.
